Frequently asked questions
Is ShrimpSocial free?
Yes. Membership and all features are free. The site is paid for by the ads shown on its pages.
I am new to shrimp keeping. Where do I start?
First set up your tank and complete the cycle. Start with the tank setup and cycling guides; the easiest first shrimp is the cherry shrimp.
What does "verified breeder" mean?
Members who breed shrimp can apply to become verified breeders. When a member names the breeder their shrimp came from and the breeder confirms it, the link appears on the record. It shows the seller is registered on the site; it does not guarantee the health of the shrimp.
Caridina or Neocaridina?
Neocaridina (cherry shrimp and their colors) live in water close to most tap water and are ideal for beginners. Caridina (Crystal Red, Taiwan Bee) need soft, low-TDS water. See the Caridina care guide.
